Seeing as my first entry heralds a significant technical achievement in getting my blog live, this post is about using technology to save you time in planning your wedding.
Does technology make our lives easier?
How many times have you started out using something new on your computer, only to look at your watch 3 hours later to find that you are nowhere past the “enter your details” page? New technology is meant to make us more efficient, smarter, more chic right?? Most of the time, yes, however if you find you are constantly thwarted by problems then take a step back and follow a few pointers to help you get where you need to be.
1. If you are on a deadline (i.e. you HAVE to have the invites at the printers this afternoon but you just can’t get mail-merge working …help!) Call the printers, see if you can get an extension. Enlist some help – a friend or family member might be an Exel wizard and can lend a hand. Don’t delete any files in frustration as a last resort!
2. Your PC has crashed taking all your hard work with it! Don’t freak out at first. There is a way of rolling back your computers memory to try and retrieve the files you need (called a system restore). Google how to do this or get some help. Ideally always back up your files so that this is never an issue!
3. There is simply too much to do before the event. DELEGATE! Assign people tasks, give them a deadline and keep on top of it with SMS reminders and emails. You don’t want to be tired and stressed out leading up to the wedding day – that’s someone elses gig!
If all else fails – RANT! Let off some steam. Throw something at a wall (soft preferably)! You can always post a reply here and share your frustration with other brides – I am sure they are all going through similar experiences (unless of course they are using Marziplanner in which case they will be SUPER cool and organised! )*winks*
