Q When should I book my wedding gown if I am getting it made to order? Six months at least, as it varies so much on fabric supplies, work load, and beading or lace trims. This time frame means you can have what you want and the process is relaxed. As we design and manufacture all of our gowns, we can do a lot of them in much less time if we have to, but it varies so always check.
Q How many fittings will there be and how long does each one take?
The ready-to-wear gowns have two fittings included in the price to get the hem to the correct length. The first one is an hour the second a half an hour. The couture gowns take five fittings and each one is an hour long.
Q What tricks of the trade should I know about for my gown? When choosing your gown, have a good look at how it fits you. Does it sit well around your bust? Does it wrinkle on your waist? Is it very long with a border hem or detail? Get these things right to avoid a lot of expensive alterations. Always turn up on time for your appointment. If you are late, you may have to hurry and the fitter will not be able to do her job properly.Your shoes are vital for your gown fittings – choose them early. Bring the lingerie you plan to wear under your gown with you to the fittings. And be careful about beauty products: Fake tan can rub off on your gown and be careful with your make-up. Red lipstick will not come off silk!
